Along
Verona & Valpolicella Meeting

the tour in direction to Verona. Verona
stands on the banks of the Adige against a
hilly backdrop. It is the second most
important art centre in the Veneto region
after Venice. You ill start your sightseeing
driving around the 16th century wall
passiong by "Porta Nuova",
"Porta Palio" and "Porta San
Zeno" where you will turn to the city
center. Some meters and the driver will stop
in front of San Zeno church, one of the
finest Romanesque churches in northern
Italy.The next stop is Castelvecchio, a
splendid fortified complex that was built in
1354 by Cangrande II Scaliger. You will have
a little walk through the Castle and the
Scaligeri bridge across the Adige River. The
driver will wait at the end of the bridge.
With the vehicle youpass one of the
residential area of the town to reach
"Castel San Pietro" up the
hill. The driver will stop the car at
the post office square from where you will
start your walking tour. The Juliet's
balcony, Piazza delle Erbe, the square of
Herbs where palaces and old houses, some
with pink marble columns and frescoes, make
attractive framework round the square.
"Piazza Dei Signori" an elegant
square which resembles an open-air
drawing-room. The driver will made the last
stop in Piazza Brà, where you will visit
the "Arena" the roman amphitheatre
that date back the I century. In summer it
is the venue for a prestigious opera season.
In the afthernoon departure from
Valpolicella area. Stop in an important
winery, one of the most prestigius,
historical Villa of the Valpolicella area.
We suggest a light lunch with local products
and wines. After this break we go-back in
Venice Piazzale Roma.
